Study Skills, Organization, and Time Management

Kids today are busy! Between school, sports, activities, friends, homework, and about a million other things, they hardly have any time to be kids any more. Learning to achieve and maintain balance in their lives is an important skill - and one that is not usually taught in school. Our instructors help students learn how to juggle multiple assignments in several subjects, manage their time efficiently, prepare for a test, take effective notes in class, and more.

How do we do this?

Well, we start with a few assumptions about students that we have found to be universally true:

STUDENTS WANT...
  • To achieve and succeed
  • To have fun outside of school
  • To exercise control in their lives
  • To have structure in their lives
  • To understand others and to be understood by others
  • To improve
  • To receive constructive criticism
Most importantly, students need a lot of positive reinforcement to succeed!

And then we teach students how to...

  • Use technology to their advantage
  • Break larger assignments in to smaller tasks
  • Estimate an assignemnt's time requirements and budget accordingly
  • Recognize and overcome various forms of procrastination
  • Set goals and rewards
  • Advocate for themselves in and out of the classroom
  • And more...

A great tutor will empower a student to be more proactive in taking control of their life and will instill the confidence necessary for that student to be a successful, independent learner.

Usually students in middle school or high school benefit the most from our study skills program, but younger students can benefit as well; setting an early precedent when it comes to academics will make a significant difference in the long run.
